Background Information:

On February 20th, City Council provided direction on recommendations received from the Planning & Zoning Commission on the Dunbar & Heritage Area Plan.

The direction is summarized as follows:

Separate the Dunbar & Heritage Neighborhoods into separate plans.

Planning & Zoning Commission Committee will draw the new boundaries which will receive a recommendation from the full Planning & Zoning Commission prior to approval by City Council.

o                     This will include recommendations for renaming the plans.

Outreach will focus on Dunbar residents (past and present), stakeholders (e.g., business owners, churchgoers, etc.), and those who many have not had an opportunity to participate in prior outreach.

Combine outreach with the Historic Preservation Plan, when possible (to avoid participation fatigue).

The Planning and Zoning Commission Committee, made up of Commissioners, Agnew, Burleson, Meeks, and Spell, met on April 1, 2024 to draft new boundaries for the separate plans as well as new plan names; attached.
