Background Information:

In 2017, City Council adopted 2-hr parking restrictions for the downtown area.  The two-hour parking restriction was a recommendation of the Downtown Parking Initiatives Report.  The two-hour parking restriction was established to create a uniform parking restriction for the downtown area.

Since 2017, the two-hour parking restriction has been observed by parking enforcement staff to be underutilized on portions of N. Edward Gary Dr., S. Edward Gary Dr., E. San Antonio St., Martin Luther King Dr., and W. San Antonio St.  The parking enforcement staff have also reported issuing lower than average number of violations within the above areas.  The above areas averaged 7.5 violations over the past year.  In comparison, an average of 36 violations have occurred for all other enforcement areas during the same period.

On February 27, 2023, the Parking Advisory Board recommended a change to the above referenced streets to increase parking utilization in these low demand areas and increase parking availability in high demand areas.

The Parking Advisory Board recommends 4-Hour Parking between the hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday through Friday on the following streets and blocks:

300 to 400 block of E. San Antonio St (both sides of the street)

100 to 200 block of N. Edward Gary Street (both sides of the street)

100 to 200 block of S. Edward Gary Street (both sides of the street)

100 to 200 block of Martin Luther King Drive (both sides of the street)

300 to 400 block W. San Antonio Street (both sides of the street)

400 to 500 block of W. San Antonio Street (both sides of the street)
