Background Information:
Currently, Section 2.463(a)(4) of the San Marcos City Code requires city officials to disclose their financial interest in real property that they own or rent. The Ethics Review Commission has recommended a code amendment to also require disclosure of interests in real property that city officials have as occupants even if they do not own the property or pay rent to the owner for the privilege of living there.
