Background Information:

The San Marcos River Foundation (SMRF) will be submitting a request to the Hays County Parks and Open Space Committee for funding to purchase a 102-acre property commonly known as the Elsik Tract.  The San Marcos River Foundation has expressed the desire for the land to be brought into the City Park system as open space.

City Staff briefed the City Council in Executive Session on May 4 regarding SMRFs desire for the City to potentially accept all or part of the property into the park system.  City Council was supportive of the acceptance of the donation.

The Resolution associated with this item expresses the City’s support of SMRF’s application for funding through the Hays County Parks and Open Spaces bond process. The Resolution also includes the City’s commitment to explore available and feasible options to collaborate regarding the parkland.
