Background Information:
Freese and Nichols, Inc., was selected from the approved on-call list of highly qualified Engineers (217-247) to perform preliminary engineering and provide a report & 20% design phase services for the Highway 80 Utility Project for the amount not to exceed $346,053.00
The project scope includes a new lift station, force main and water main along Highway 80 just east of Highway 21.
The PER will evaluate three (3) alternative routes of the force main from the new lift station to the wastewater treatment plant off River Road. In addition, the PER will evaluate conflicts with several CIP projects in the area to ensure the lift station is designed so the other projects can be successful. Once the force main route is approved and final scope is determined, City staff will submit a change in service for with Freese and Nichols, Inc., to finish the design of the project.
Preliminary construction costs are estimated at $5-$6 million. The design will start in the summer of 2021 with construction expected to start in 2024.
