Background Information:

Lights Out, Texas! is a statewide initiative to raise awareness of bird migration and is led by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and the Texas Conservation Alliance, governmental organizations, and Texans dedicated to the conservation of birds.  The environmental stewardship makes all the difference for our birds but can also trim energy bills.

Council Committee, Board/Commission Action:

Convention and Visitor Bureau advisory board requests council support of the Lights Out, Texas! initiative to reduce disruptions to migratory patterns and light pollution. Birds are essential to our planet’s ecology and local economies. This action supports the Bird City, Texas certification application.
