Background Information:
The Criminal Justice Reform Council Committee was originally created by City Council in 2019 and was charged with working with Hays County to implement policies related to Cite and Release. During their meeting on April 8, 2021, the members of the CJR committee voted to send an item to the Council that would update the scope and purpose statement of the committee to "work with the county toward implementation of Cite and Divert and to bring transparency to the policing processes in San Marcos as allowed by law." The purpose of this agenda item is to provide Council with the opportunity to consider this resolution and provide direction to staff and the CJR committee.
