Background Information:
On July 7, 2020 Interim Chief of Police Bob Klett provided a thorough work session presentation to the City Council detailing many aspects of the department's use of force policy. That presentation was developed in response to many emails and messages received by members of Council regarding this topic after the death of George Floyd. During that presentation, staff made a recommendation to Council that an Ad Hoc committee be appointed for the limited purposes of reviewing the department's use of force policies and making recommendations to Chief Klett and his Advisory Panel about those policies.
