Background Information:
Rio Vista Falls is experiencing undermining beneath the large boulders making up the falls itself and along the bank of the river. Contract 219-207 with Recreation Engineering and Planning for $46,800 was executed in March, 2019 to conduct engineering and development of a water control plan, design for mitigating the undermining as well as assisting in obtaining required state and federal permits. Pursuant to this Council approval, Recreation Engineering and Planning will complete full design and monitor construction for necessary construction repairs.
These repairs will be the second repair made to the falls since it was constructed in the Spring of 2006. The first repair occurred in the Fall of 2006 and consisted of resetting several boulders that had settled. Dog Beach is also experiencing minor undermining along the river bank. This project includes the repair of both these locations. The construction of the repairs will be coordinated such that impacts to river-goers during the peak river-use season will be minimized as much as possible.

Staff recommends approval of a change in service to contract 219-207 with Recreation Engineering and Planning for design and construction administration services in the amount of $42,600 for a total contract amount of $93,000.00.
