Background Information:
In 2018, the Wallace Addition drainage improvements feasibility study was initiated to identify improvements required to mitigate flooding within the subdivision. As a result of this study, it was determined that the existing Cape Street channel and the Staples Road ditch and associated culverts do not have adequate capacity to convey 25-year fully developed storm event.
The proposed improvements include Cape Channel improvements, culverts upsizing and Staples Road ditch diversion via a proposed culvert under Staples Road and a channel along fish hatchery property. Proposed improvements will alleviate surface runoff and flooding issues currently experienced in the neighborhood.
Project scope to be performed by BGE, Inc., Austin, Texas, includes data collection, site visits, field survey, hydraulic and hydrologic engineering, Cape Channel and Staples Road ditch diversion plans and preliminary engineering report with 30% design plans.
