Background Information:
This contract is critical to ongoing electric utility system reliability and both electrical worker and customer safety in and around City utility lines. The scope of work consists of trimming 33 miles of overhead circuits and removing approximately 475 trees throughout Zone 1, which includes the Millview, Springtown, and Rio Vista areas within San Marcos. The first phase of this work will be completed under the existing 2014 LCRA interlocal agreement which expires in December. Staff if proposing a new Interlocal Agreement with LCRA which will be brought to the City Council for consideration at a later meeting. If the new interlocal agreement is approved, the second phase of work for Zone 1 and all of Zones 2-5 would be provided by LCRA under the terms of the new agreement.
In order to begin work as soon as possible, the contract was executed in July, 2019 and the contract work began in July 2019 and is expected to end in December 2019.
