Background Information:

                     City council supported the Capital Area Rural Transportation System (CARTS) in forming a combined Rural-Urban Transit District on behalf of the San Marcos urbanized area

- March 2013

                     City council passed a resolution naming the City as the Direct Recipient for the San Marcos urbanized area - August 2018

                     An Urban Transit District allows the City to receive State Urban Transit Funds from the Texas Department of Transportation

                     City Council will receive recommendations from the Urban Transit District Board on aspects of transit service the City will provide to its service area.  As the Direct Recipient, the City Council will make all governing decisions/actions in regard to public transit in the San Marcos urbanized area
