Background Information:
On May 23, 2019, the City of San Marcos received five (5) bids for the Purgatory Creek Trail Improvements Project in accordance with City Purchasing Policy and Local Government Code. Bids were evaluated by City Staff and Brent Luck of Luck Design Group. Upon evaluation, staff recommends award of a contract to the lowest, most responsive and responsible bidder MAC, Inc., located in Austin, Texas, in the amount of $590,296.
Scope of this project includes site clearing and grading, flatwork concrete, and trail construction in an effort to create a shared use, ADA-accessible path that maintains grade throughout the Purgatory Creek Trail System. This will allow visitors with different abilities to transit the lower trail from Prospect Park to the area closest to the Wonder World Drive overpass as well as the upper trail through several different elevations to reach a variety of land features, including Grandmother’s Oak in the meadow and looping back around to the upper trailhead. This project consists of over 7200 linear feet of accessible trail of crushed limestone and improvements to over 2600 linear feet of natural surface hike and bike trails.
