Background Information:
Residential structures and properties flood and drain poorly after every rainfall event along Academy Street between Orchard Street and Sessom Drive. Grate inlets along Orchard Street clog during every rainfall event and prevent adequate drainage. The existing drainage system (private) is undersized and TX State has exacerbated flooding by tying in drainage from a curb inlet into Academy.
During 60% design meeting with TxState, it was agreed to revise the project limits from Alamo St to Comanche St and extend the storm drain to Comanche St to tie the proposed truck line to existing drainage system. In addition to this extension, water and wastewater lines will be replaced with in the revised project limits.
Additional design engineering services are required to include survey, sub surface utility engineering for the entire project, drainage design to extend storm drain to Comanche St, water and wastewater design to Alamo St, bidding and construction phase services. The amount requested to complete additional tasks will be funded from C419, i.e. Sessom Improvements at Academy.
