Background Information:

The Neighborhood Commission was created on July 20, 2010. Since it was created there has been only one amendment to the composition to remedy issues of the Commission not being able to achieve quorum on a regular basis. The Commission now meets quorum regularly.

The Neighborhood Commissions' charge needs revision to clearly define their role as a vital advisory board to City Council. Another consideration is regarding the use of "sectors" to define the areas that are represented on the Commission. The use of sectors are no longer used in our Comprehensive Plan, and can be redefined as new neighborhoods are added to the City.
The Neighborhood Commission is currently discussing its role, and the Council's input would be desirable to define areas the commission can make (advisory) recommendations to Council in the future.
