Background Information:
On August 7, 2018 the City Council established the San Marcos Innovation District by Resolution 2018-131R. In the original Resolution, it appointed a stakeholder group by name versus by position or entity.
The proposed amendment will only be removing the names from the resolution, but not removing anyone previously appointed to serve on as a Stakeholder.
Additionally, it is proposed to have a specific position for a co-working space and a business owner representative.
Mayor Hughson has asked Mayor John Thomaides if he would be willing to serve as the Business Owner Representative and he has agreed. Mayor Thomaides is the owner and operator of Alpha Pure Water and was previously serving on the group in the Mayor position.
Below is a reflection of the proposed changes to the group. Staff is also recommending the addition of Ms. Gloria Salazar and Mr. Ed Rios as they have been interested parties attending the Stakeholder Group meetings.
a. Jane Hughson , Mayor, City of San Marcos
b. Debbie Ingalsbe, Hays County Commissioner’s Court representative
c. Anthony Stahl, President/CEO, Central Texas Medical Center
d. Carina Boston-Pinales, Splash Coworking, Coworking Space
e. Walter Horton, Assoc. Vice President for Research, Texas State University
f. Steve Frayser, Executive Director, Texas State University STAR Park
g. Kayli Head, Main Street Board Chair
h. Adriana Cruz, Greater San Marcos Partnership
i. Gloria Salazar, Centro Cultural Hispano de San Marcos
j. Christopher Laing, Executive Director, Capital City Innovation
k. John David Carson, Carson Properties, Property Owner Representative
l. John Thomaides, Alpha Pure Water, Business Owner Representative
