Background Information:
On January 4, 2018, the City received two (2) bids for CDBG-DR Housing Rehabilitation/Reconstruction Services (CDBG-DR Housing Programs). Both bidders are on the approved list of qualified Construction Contractors, as previously approved by City Council with Resolution 2017-181R.
The Planning and Development Services Department has reviewed both bids and recommends awarding a contract to both bidders. This request is to award a contract to James W. Turner Construction, Ltd., located in Tomball, Texas, in the amount of $2,768,586.00, in compliance with Federal, State, and Local statutory requirements, to include the Federal Funding and Accountability Transparency Act (“FFATA”), for Grant #B-16-MH-48-0002 under the HUD and CDBG-DR disaster recovery programs. The contract award is to provide necessary construction services to rehabilitate/reconstruct up to seventeen (17) residences that were previously damaged in flood events in San Marcos. Both contractors will work simultaneously to complete the projects as quickly as possible. Both contractors have extensive HUD DR experience. No local bidders applied.
