Background Information:
In early October 2017, the Finance Department’s Purchasing Division was notified of the need for an emergency contract for a water main break at the San Marcos Regional Airport. That water main goes into one of the hangars and feeds its fire suppression system. The Community Services Department’s Facilities Division secured two contractors to begin work immediately.
The Fence Lady, Inc., located in Boerne, Texas, completed the bulk of the work which included concrete excavation, removal of broken water lines, installation of new pipes and valves, backfilling the excavated area with concrete, hauling off spoils and debris, demo of existing electrical items, installation of new electrical items (outlets, lights, panel, etc.), demo of existing fire suppression room, and installation of new walls and roofing in the fire suppression room. This is to ratify the emergency contract by The Fence Lady, Inc., in the amount of $85,400.
Firetrol Protection Systems located in Austin, Texas, was secured for Fire Sprinkler Line Repair and Sprinkler Head Replacement through the TXMAS cooperative contract #TXMAS-17-03FAC04. The work included fire sprinkler line repair, sprinkler head replacement, performing overdue inspections, adding/relocating sprinkler heads to correct coverage per NFPA, City of San Marcos, and State of Texas Fire Marshal requirements. This is to ratify the emergency contract by Firetrol Protection Systems in the amount of $35,905.
The cumulative cost of emergency repairs for this project is $121,305.
