BACKGROUND:
On October 18, 2017, the City received two (2) bids for Hopkins and LBJ Striping (IFB 218-021). The Engineering/Capital Improvements Program (CIP) Department has reviewed the bids and recommends awarding a contract to the second lowest bidder, DIJ Construction, Inc., located in Bertram, Texas, in the amount of $69,165.50.
The scope of work for this project includes striping in 2 areas. First is the replacement of existing painted striping along North LBJ between Hopkins Street and University Drive to reflectorized type I thermoplastic striping. This area was restriped earlier in the year with paint to implement head in parking and revise the bike lane. The thermoplastic replacement will improve the visibility on this heavily used section.
The second area is Hopkins Street from Moore Street to Bishop Street. The roadway will be re-striped with paint to reflect the narrower lane widths proposed with the future Hopkins Street Reconstruction project. Currently the pavement varies in width and the painting will establish a consistent 10-foot drive lane. This will allow the City to implement the traffic calming of the narrower lanes with paint for evaluation prior to construction.
The estimated completion time for the project is ninety (90) days.
