BACKGROUND:
On January 3, 2017, the San Marcos City Council approved resolution 2017-01R authorizing the submission of a grant application to the Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division in the amount of $181,500. Included in the grant application were city matching funds in the amount of $25,000. This goal of this grant project was to fund the conversion of the Police Department's records management system from Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) summary data reporting to the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) so that the department would be in compliance with a State mandate. On February 28, 2017, the Police Department received notification from the Office of the Governor that the grand had been awarded. On August 15, 2017, the City Council approved by motion the expenditure of the funds required to pay the vendor for completion of this project.
