BACKGROUND

The Uhland Road Improvements project is one of the four projects selected by the City Council to address infrastructure improvements with the allocated $12.5 million in HUD-DR funding.  The project will construct a stormwater system meeting City standards, reconstruct the roadways to facilitate the operation of the stormwater system and replace utilities within the new roadway sections. The goal of the project is to alleviate local flooding along County Road and Uhland Road and improve mobility during storm events.

Freese and Nichols, Inc. were selected to perform engineering services from the list of firms approved by City Council on June 20, 2017 for CDBG-DR Infrastructure Projects.   The contract includes compliance with all federal requirements of the HUD funding and covers both design and construction phase services.   Specifically the design will include:

Reconstruction of County Road and Uhland Road from IH-35 Access Road to approximately 200 feet south of Aquarena Springs.

Construction of a storm drainage system along County and Uhland Road.

                     Water and wastewater improvements

                     Sidewalk extension

The estimated construction cost in $4.2M and design is scheduled for completion by the end of 2018 with bidding for construction in early 2019.
