BACKGROUND:
On January 7, 2016, one (1) bid was received for Four-Drum Rotating-Turret Puller (IFB 216-064). The Public Services Department, Electric Utility Division, has reviewed the bid and recommends awarding a contract to Sherman + Reilly, Inc., a Textron company, located in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The total cost of the Four-Drum Rotating-Turret Puller is $146,100 with training provided at no cost. Sherman + Reilly, Inc. is the only manufacture who makes a 360 degree Four-Drum Rotating-Turret Puller; we put this piece of equipment out to bid to verify this and only received one bid.
The Four-Drum Rotating-Turret Puller will be used in the day-to-day operation of the line crew for work tasks such as pulling wire between poles and pulling wire underground. This is a replacement puller for a thirty (30) year-old piece of equipment.
