BACKGROUND: 

Attached is the Fiscal Year 2015-2016 Budget and Tax Rate Calendar prepared by Staff.  The first public hearing on the tax rate is proposed for August 18^th and the second on September 1^st.  The public hearing on the budget and any proposed utility rate increases will also be on September 1^st.  The Budget and Tax Rate Calendar reflects recent legislative changes intended to streamline the process for setting the City’s tax rate and provide the public an easier method for understanding property tax rate notices.  The new legislation requires the City to use a notice that has been simplified and contains contact information for the Tax Assessor-Collector.  The calendar is attached.
