BACKGROUND

In 2011 a letter was issued to Texas Department of Transportation - Aviation Division notifying them that the City of San Marcos and the San Marcos Airport was interested in undertaking an airport improvement project to construct additional hanger space (t-hangars) to be made available for lease.  The grant is for eight t-hangars and the associated ramp/taxiways.

This resolution will go to TxDot Transportation Commission for approval in August. By approving this resolution the Council will be providing confirmation from the City to TxDOT that we still need and want this grant, and will provide the matching funds. This will allow TxDOT Aviation to proceed with the design and engineering of the hangars.

Currently all of the t-hangars are leased and there are 44 pilots on our waitlist for t-hangars. Texas Aviation Partners are confident that they can have all the hangars leased prior to the end of construction.
