Background Information:
This is a request from a private business to name an unnamed Right of Way which runs along their property in order to facilitate easier navigation to their site. Typically, new street names are determined at the time of platting; the Right of Way was dedicated to the City when it was platted in July 2011 (Vol 16 Pg 127 in the Hays County Clerk records) however no street name was selected at that time and so staff are following the process for street renaming set out in Chapter 74 of the City's Code. Per Section 74.056(b) of the City Code, a petition for street name change "shall be considered only if more than 50 percent of the owners of businesses addressed along the street and more than 50 percent of the owners of property addressed along the street in question, insofar as they can reasonably be determined, have signed the petition in favor of the change."
