BACKGROUND: Cottonwood Creek is a master planned community located at SH123 south of Old Bastrop Highway. Electric service for this area is provided by Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative, Inc.
Bluebonnet and the Developer, Cottonwood Creek, JDR, LTD are requesting an electric utility easement consisting of three areas. City Council approval is required because the easement is through City property (donated for parkland.) The easement is necessary for Bluebonnet to install a looped secondary electric feed to serve the City’s lift station and the residential section of the development.
The underground electric facilities will located adjacent to a wastewater main abutting the rear of the residential lots as depicted on the Location Map as Area “1”. Areas “2” & “3” will contain the only visible features which are two (2) switchgear pads, one on each end of the underground installation.
Because the easement is adjacent to the City’s wastewater main and there is limited above ground features, there is minimal impact to the City’s property.
