Master Plan: Vision SMTX Comprehensive Plan


Background Information:
The Vision SMTX Comprehensive Plan, adopted in October 2024, is a vision and policy document intended to guide the growth and evolution of the City for the next 20-30 years. It is based on community input and feedback and includes the community's vision for a variety of physical and programmatic areas that influence how San Marcos evolves and grows in the years ahead. Vision SMTX was developed as part of a community-driven process across 99 community engagement events, including 27 pop-ups, 12 workshops and surveys, and 60 commission and committee meetings generating a total of 8,083 public comments. The plan includes 23 goals, 130 action statements, and 59 objectives across the 7 topics of transportation, housing, parks, economic development, environment and resource protection, and arts and culture.

Implementation of the plan is guided by the Comprehensive Plan Oversight Committee, a 7-member board appointed by City Council. The purpose of this committee is to contribute to annual reporting of implementation progress and evaluation metrics, serve as stewards of the Comprehensive Plan, and ensure future efforts are aligned with the Plan.
