BACKGROUND:
Highpointe Communities has entered into contract to purchase approximately 417 acres of land, generally located on the east side of IH-35, south of Posey Road, and also bordered by Old Bastrop Highway, at the southern edge of the City of San Marcos.
The City has determined that in order to provide adequate fire service the Highpointe project, a new Fire Station is required to be built on the property and that the owner's pro rata share of the projected cost of the Fire Station is $2,500,000 based on an initial estimated cost of $4,000,000, excluding land but including equipment.
The purpose of this agenda item is to consider a Resolution adopting an Agreement Regarding Fire Station between Highpointe and the City, whereby the owner will contribute land, cash funds, and PID bond proceeds to be used by the City specifically for the planning, design, construction and equipping of a Fire Station.
