BACKGROUND: 

The U.S. Department of Justice requires that entities in a disparate allocation of Justice Assistance Grant funding enter into an agreement to provide for the use of the funds awarded.  In the past, the City and Hays County have entered into agreement regarding the allocations of such funds.  This year, Hays County has agreed that it does not qualify for a direct award of grant funds.  Therefore, hays County has agreed to allow the City to accept and utilize such grant funds for eligible purposes. This grant will be used to purchase mobile phone forensic software that will be used as an investigation tool in criminal cases.
