Background Information:
The applicant is requesting to place a monument sign on the property. A monument sign is defined in the San Marcos Land Development Code as "a sign that is erected on a solid base directly on the ground and not supported by a pole, and that is itself constructed of a solid material. San Marcos Development Code (SMDC) Section 7.3.4.9 states "monument signs are permitted ... if approved through an alternative compliance request where consistent with the design manual."
