BACKGROUND:
Article 56.04 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure requires that each local law enforcement agency designate a crime victim liaison. The Criminal Justice Division of the Texas Office of the Attorney General administers a grant program through which funds are allocated to local law enforcement agencies on a biannual basis for the purpose of funding these programs. The San Marcos Police Department participates in this grant program and has funded its victim services program with these grant funds for several years. The current grant period will expire at the end of August 2016, and the purpose of this resolution is to allow for grant funding to continue beginning September 1, 2016. The deadline for applications is May 27, 2015.
