Background Information:
Over the last few months, the Cemetery Commission has held discussions regarding the addition of Ecofriendly burials to our Cemetery Ordinance. While these types of burials were not disallowed there was not clear guidance related to this method of internment. The attached redline provides definitions and procedures for ecofriendly burials.

On July 27, 2022, the Commission voted unanimously, with 2 members absent, to approve the proposed amendments attached as Exhibit A to Recommendation Resolution 2022-01RR of the San Marcos Cemetery Commission for the City Council to consider.
