Arts Master Plan

Background Information:
The City's Art Commission was established in October 1998 to administer the City's Event Funding Grant Program. Public Art was donated to the city in 2003 with no process or guidelines of accepting art to be placed on city property. The Arts Commission was tasked to create a public art policy. The Art in Public Places Policy and Procedural Guidelines was adopted by City Council on April 5, 2005. The policy focused on the administrative process of applications for placement of permanent or temporary art on City property.

A new Public Arts Policy will expand the framework of the 2005 plan aligning with the 2022 Arts Master Plan. Updating the art policy is an Arts Master Plan recommendation. A standard commissioning process is needed for all City departments and Arts Commission projects.
