Background Information:
If approved, this item authorizes the Mayor to sign onto a joint letter from the City of San Marcos and Texas State University to United States Secretary of Labor to Secretary of Labor Walsh requesting a point-of-contact to work through various issues related to Gary Job Corps (GJC) and the Department of Labor (DOL). Those projects include:

* Texas State's ongoing communications with DOL about transferring the ownership of the land to the ALERRT Center at Texas State University.

* The City's and DOL's multi-year improvement plan to create a new roadway into GJC and the neighboring city-owned San Marcos Regional Airport. We need to conclude these discussions...
