Develop Art in Public Place Program, identify areas of the city that could be used for murals/public art displays.
BACKGROUND:
As per city resolution No. 2005-43R, the City Council is required to grant final approval for the purchase and placement of permanent artwork.
The Arts Commission approved a recommendation to purchase and install these sculptures on September 21, 2016. The recommendation was reviewed and approved by the Parks Advisory Board on October 27, 2016.
The sculptures, titled “Mark” and “Becky” were designed and created by artist Lauren Seldon of Nacogdoches, Texas. Ms. Sheldon is an Associate Professor of Art Metals at Stephen F. Austin State University.
Her artwork has recently been part of multiple sculpture exhibitions including:

-Art on the Green, Kemp Center for the Arts, Wichita Falls, TX
-Art Track Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition, Palestine, TX
