BACKGROUND:
On October 6, 2014, City awarded contract# 215-003 in the amount of $2,092,415.00 for construction labor and materials for the SM Substation SM-T2 and SM Substation SM-T1 projects, collectively known as San Marcos Substation Transformer Replacement Project. The purpose of the project was to replace obsolete and underrated electric power transformers and associated electric distribution equipment with new, increased capacity equipment that will serve the City’s electric distribution system for the next 35 years. The charges are related to scope changes in the project resulting from construction print errors, flood damage, and unanticipated SCADA/Relay work necessary to upgrade the protection and control of the power transformers and associated electric distribution circuit breakers
