CITY COUNCIL GOAL: Big Picture Infrastructure
BACKGROUND:
Pursuant to Section 82.003 of the City Code, an ordinance is required to establish a speed limit that varies from state law on streets or parts of the streets within the city. An engineering and traffic investigation is required to support the speed limit and signs must be erected giving the public notice of the speed limit.
Due to the proposed Hunter Road construction, TXDOT requested that the City reduce the speed limit of FM 2439 (Hunter Road) from 35 mph to 30 mph from mile post 0.660 (west of Johnson Street) to mile post 0.998 (San Antonio Street) and reduce the speed limit from 45 mph to 35 mph from mile post 0.998 (San Antonio Street) to mile post 1.531 (Wonder World Drive).
The traffic engineer will include these speed limits on FM 2439 (Hunter Road) on the traffic register maintained pursuant to Section 82.067 of the City Code.
