Background Information:
Modeled after a successful experience in King County Washington, the "Piloting Innovative Community Co-Creation in San Marcos, Texas" research pilot led by Texas State University aimed to provide city staff, researcher(s), community members, and stakeholders direct experience and insight on a different community engagement model. The research pilot formed an Equity Cabinet that put underserved or underrepresented community members at the center to learn about transportation related issues and develop a framework that can be utilized to inform ongoing and future transportation and transit-related plans.
