BACKGROUND:
Pursuant with Sec. 82.066, all regulatory signs where the authority to install is not specifically delegated to the traffic engineer, requires approval from City Council by ordinance.
Hughson Drive is a two-way residential street, with on street parking from Algarita Road to Craddock Ave. Based on a traffic study conducted in September 2014, the eighty-five percentile traffic speed on Hughson Drive is 39.8 mph. Local residents submitted a petition for installing speed cushions on Hughson Drive from Old RR 12 to Craddock Ave. The petition included 27 responses. Among these 26 responses, 23 support the installation and 4 oppose the installation. The four residents that opposed the proposed installation do not front Hughson Drive. The traffic conditions warrant speed cushions. The approximate cost for installation is $6,000. City staff recommends approval of the speed cushions on Hughson Drive.
Pursuant with 82.067- The traffic engineer shall develop and maintain a traffic register containing a record of every location in the city where any traffic control device or special regulation is made applicable, whether by ordinance or by the traffic engineer's authority established under this chapter.
