Background Information:
Currently the City of San Marcos Police and Fire Departments has a separate Computer Aided Dispatch/Records Management System (CAD/RMS) and Mobile Data System (MDS) vendor from the rest of the county first responder agencies. Our agencies are unable to share the information electronically with anyone on the Hays County Shared system which includes Hays County Sheriffs and Constables, the Texas State University Police Department, the Kyle Police Department, the Buda Police Department and each fire and EMS department.
We previously had an interlocal agreement with Hays County, Texas State, and Buda on our shared system before they moved to a new system at the Combined Emergency Communications Center. Council previously approved using ARPA funds to purchase software licenses and join the Hays County combined system.
The City of San Marcos and Hays County Sheriff’s Office will be region partners by entering into an interlocal agreement to share emergency responder’s CAD/RMS and MDS data and costs to operate the system. The application will be configured to allow each entity to operate as separate entities, but the data will be shared in a ‘View Only’ format to the other entity. If there are acceptations, then those records will be prohibited for being viewed by the other entity.
This ILA has already been approved by the Hays County Commissioners Court.
