Background Information:

On January 18, 2022, the San Marcos Downtown Accessible Pedestrian Traffic Signal Improvements project was awarded to Myers Concrete Construction LP, in the amount of $368,052.04. The project includes concrete services and conduit installation, and updates of existing non-ADA compliant traffic signals at nine intersections in the downtown district with ADA-compliant sidewalk ramps, audible pedestrian push buttons, and countdown pedestrian signal heads to improve pedestrian mobility for all ages and abilities.

Following the City’s award, TxDOT notified the City that TxDOT contractors will complete (at TxDOT cost) the same ADA-compliant improvements proposed by the City at three intersections.  The following three intersection: Guadalupe/Hopkins; Guadalupe/San Antonio; and Guadalupe/MLK that were part of the City’s original project will be completed by TxDOT’s SL 82 ADA Improvement Project (STP 20209967 / 0914-00-446).

This change order will remove these three intersections from the City project for a cost reduction in work of $125,994.80 which results in a 34.2% decrease to the original contract amount.  The contractor was notified of the deletion of the three intersections and has agreed to the deductive change.
