Background Information:

Section 4.04 of the San Marcos City Charter requires city council approval of the city attorney’s appointment of assistant city attorneys.  This appointment fills a vacancy that has been unfilled since the departure of the attorney previously assigned to contracts and procurement matters. With this appointment, the role for this position will expand to include a broad range of municipal law matter from municipal court matters to general counsel work. 

 

Mr. Montgomery has served as the city’s municipal court prosecutor for over 10 years and has assisted with a variety of code enforcement matters.  In addition, Mr. Montgomery has experience with a variety of municipal law matters through his work with municipalities in private practice.
