Background Information:
Since 2015, the City of San Marcos Security team’s goal has been to identify city facilities that need video security based on public interactions, exchange monies or have higher risks of incidences. The Activity Center has been on the priority list for approximately 3 years pending funding due to an outdated security system and several recent incidences that required EMS calls. The current system has not been updated since 2014 and 19 out of the 34 cameras are currently not functional. The cameras that are functioning have poor video quality and no ability to obtain and download recorded video footage. Adding this facility to the citywide surveillance system will allow sharing and live video feed to authorized staff while protecting the safety of city staff as well as our San Marcos citizens.
The City reached out to 5 cooperative vendors to request quotes for this project. Responses were received from 2 vendors. There was only a $65 difference in price for the two proposals. The City of San Marcos Security team reviewed the proposals and recommends award to Knight Security System based on overall best value to the City of San Marcos. Knight Security System has performed very well on previous city projects and their quality of work, responsiveness to the City, troubleshooting and resolving issues, and requiring minimal supervision and direction are key attributes to selecting Knight Security Systems for this work.
The City of San Marcos is authorized by the Local Government Code, Chapter 271, to participate in cooperative purchasing programs. The (“DIR”) Cooperative Purchasing has awarded contract # DIR-CPO-4494 for Knight Security System, LLC.
