Background Information:
The Human Services Advisory Board met in February and March to review the governing ordinances, bylaws, and rules and regulations for the Board. During this review it was noted that Code of Ordinances Chapter 2, Article 3, Division 9, Section 2.232 states “The Board will meet at least once a month.” The Board actually meets weekly during the application review season but does not typically have a reason to meet in months outside that season; therefore, the Board is requesting that the wording be changed to “The Board will meet as needed to fulfill its duties”. Two documents would then govern when the meetings will be held:
1) Section 2.233 of the Ordinance requires that the board hold a public hearing prior to June 15 each year, and this meeting is planned for June 9 this year.
2) In addition, The Rules and Regulations adopted by the Board at its March 3, 2022, meeting state that the regular meetings of the Board will be set by approval an an annual calendar. The calendar was approved at the March 3 meeting as well. The Board reviews applications for funding by holding weekly meetings beginning in late August and running through mid-November.
