Background Information:
The attached change in service for $242,950.08 to the Contract # 220-209 with Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will allow the City to pay the final invoice for the IH-35 from north of River Ridge Parkway to Loop 82 project, by increasing the total contract amount to $798,350.08.
An Advanced Funding Agreement (AFA) (Contract # 220-209) between TxDOT and the City of San Marcos (City) was executed in April 2020. The city scope included waterline and electric bores underneath IH-35 at River Ridge Parkway as betterments. The original estimated total construction cost for the relocated and adjusted waterline and electric facilities was $555,400.00; however, the construction bid came in higher than the original estimate. The actual construction cost is $780,560.69. In addition, the City is also responsible for the construction engineering (CE) cost in the amount of $17,789.39, bringing the total contract amount to $798,350.08.
Overall, the IH-35 project scope included new northbound I-35 ramps between River Ridge Parkway and Loop 82 (Aquarena Springs Drive). A northbound exit ramp to River Ridge Parkway was constructed, and an existing northbound entrance ramp south of River Ridge Parkway was relocated to provide adequate weaving distance. The northbound frontage road between River Ridge Parkway and Loop 82 was also reconstructed as part of this project.
The construction is complete and accepted by TxDOT and the City.
