Background Information:
The “Micro-Solve” chemical is pump-fed from approximately fifteen (15) different stations throughout the City into the sanitary sewer collection system to help prevent grease build-up in key areas of our wastewater infrastructure. These chemicals have been determined to be safe for our wastewater treatment facilities based on a recent study. Other chemicals used by the City to a lesser extent are jet-fed and used only on an as-needed basis.
The City recommends awarding an annual contract to Troy Scott Najar dba Evergreen Southwest (EGSW), San Marcos, TX for the estimated amount of $82,200.
The Local Government Code, Section 252.022(7) permits a limited exemption from the competitive bidding process if the items to be purchased are available from only one source. The City considers the Micro-Solve Grease availability from only one source, EGSW, for providing a captive replacement part or component for multiple wastewater stations throughout the City.
