Background Information:
Contingency Reallocation for the San Marcos Wastewater Treatment Plant Miscellaneous Capital Improvements Project, submitted by CH2M HILL (Jacobs) to the City of San Marcos. During inspections in late 2025, severe corrosion was discovered in the structural support system of Clarifier 401, requiring full removal and replacement before installation of a new hydraulic drive. A specialized contractor, CopperState, assessed the clarifier and provided a cost proposal for replacement of structural steel components and installation of new equipment. The total contingency reallocation requested is $457,516.41, covered entirely by existing project contingency funds, reducing the remaining contingency to $32,375.49 and extending project completion to October 15, 2026.
