Background Information:

The attached change in service # 3 for $694,455.00 to agreement 219-129.3 with BGE, Inc. will provide engineering design and bid phase services for the City of San Marcos (City) related to the Wallace Addition Offsite Drainage Improvements Project.

The scope of work is based on the recommendations from the Preliminary Engineering Report (PER). The project scope includes drainage infrastructure along Staples Road, Cape Road and within Fish Hatchery to improve conveyance and reduce flooding within Wallace Addition.

The existing drainage infrastructure within and around Wallace Addition Subdivision is undersized and requires upgrade. There is a 29-acre vacant parcel situated between the existing Wallace Addition subdivision and the San Marcos River (River) which has been purchased by Hays County. This parcel is planned to be developed by Hays County into what will become Cape’s Pond Park (CPP). The PER addendum documented various proposed improvements within CPP and storm sewer improvements within Flores Blvd.

Preliminary construction cost is estimated at $10M. The project is scheduled for construction in summer 2025 pending Easements/ROW acquisition.
