Background Information:
The City plans to develop a city-owned site previously occupied by the Midway potable water storage facility, which has since been demolished. The site will be developed with affordable housing units. The purpose of this project is to provide wastewater infrastructure that does not currently exist along Midway Street and parts of Perkins Street. Additionally, the project will evaluate replacing existing deteriorated sewer infrastructure along Viola St. to Alto St.
This will facilitate:
• Connection to the city’s wastewater collection system from the future affordable housing units
• Future connections by existing homes along parts of Perkins St. and Midway St. that currently utilize private septic systems.
• Improvements to existing deteriorated infrastructure along Viola St.
K. Friese & Associates, Inc. is recommended to perform the Midway Wastewater Improvements Project, #219-129.2. In 2018, the City issued solicitation #219-129 for the purpose of selecting qualified engineering firms to provide on-call professional engineering services for water and wastewater projects. K Freise & Associates, Inc., was selected from the approved on-call list.
Construction is estimated at $500,000 and is expected in start in FY 2020
