Background Information:
In October 2025, the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (“CAMPO”) announced the start of the 2028-2031 Call for Projects. The competitive call for projects will select projects for federal transportation apportioned to the region through the Surface Transportation Block Grant (STBG), Transportation Alternative Set-Aside (TASA) and Carbon Reduction Program (CRP) funding programs. Project applications with resolutions of support from outside agencies are scored higher. This resolution reflects the City of San Marcos’ support for the application that Hays County will submit for the Centerpoint Road Project.
Hays County Staff are preparing an application package for the “Centerpoint Road Project” from IH-35 to FM 2439 Hunter Road. The project includes constructing an elevated bridge with 10-ft shared use path over the railroad tracks between IH 35 and Hunter Road. City and County staff have been collaborating on this project since 2020. This project is identified in the City’s Transportation Master Plan. This project was approved by Hays County voters in the 2024 Hays County Road Bond. The project budget is estimated at approximately $32M, which will be funded by Hays County.
